The Entangled Collection
The title of this collection came to me as I stared at this finished piece, Blue Notes.
I remember working on this composition from every direction, turning the panel around and around as I determined the connections I wanted to make with the prints. I wanted them to dance together and apart.
That experience, of being caught up in the materials and looking for direction was part of the story of every piece.
The Trio in Red
One day of letterpress printing left me with a stack of prints on papers that I really liked. I didn’t intend to make a set, but I was wrapped up in the colors and textures and created one.
The folded piece of piano roll began this collage.
One piece of paper that I didn’t want to cover up directed this entire composition.
Green Ink
It’s hard to miss the green ink in the center of this collage, but I did everything I could to cover it up before finally giving in and letting it stay as part of the story of this piece.
This collection is held together by the idea of being entangled in your work. With each collage, I was looking for a way out, to create a successful composition with a narrative to remember.
