In Time

This is a collection created over the course of months using pockets of time. These pieces will remind you of summer skies and warm ocean waves. This is a collection that reminds me that I don’t have to have consecutive hours of studio time in order to create.

This collection began with an afternoon spent letterpress printing in all shades of blue, as I created many papers that stayed on the drying rack for a week before being filed away.

Another moment came, and I pulled the folder of blue papers from the filing cabinet and a sheet of print-making paper that had already been torn down to a size that fits comfortably on my table. I created a collage of large shapes and set it aside.

When I had more time, the same materials were still out on the table, so I made another collage.

Months later, I realized I had created a series with more pieces than I remember making.

The works on panels have been moving around my house for months. I’d work on them a little, bring them upstairs, and set them on the wall for a few weeks until I decided what I wanted to do. I’d stare at them and fret about having too much texture or too many strings hanging from book pieces. Back and forth they went until I was ready to commit to the composition and varnish them.

With these pieces, I’m celebrating busy summers and memories created in and out of my studio.
